For those unfamiliar with the history, January 8 and 9 stand as the darkest, most pivotal days of this uprising. Over these two fateful nights, a massive, nationwide call for freedom was met with a brutal, systematic government crackdown. Under a total internet blackout, thousands of peaceful, young protestors lost their lives in the streets. These illustrations are not merely art; they are permanent scars transformed into visual memory, ensuring that the faces of raw defiance and the voices of those silenced in the dark are never forgotten

Majidreza Rahnavard

Though he fell before the Lion and Sun revolution truly took the streets, his echo carved the very path it followed.Executed in December 2022, Majidreza became the heavy, beating heart of what was to come. Defiant until his very last breath, his final words shook the pillars of darkness:

“Do not weep at my grave. Do not pray, do not recite the Quran. Just celebrate, and play joyful music.”

Even the ancient Lion and Sun tattooed on his arm—for which they broke and tortured his hand—foreshadowed the flag of the coming awakening. By breaking the chains of forced mourning, he invited a nation to fight not for death, but for life. He didn't live to see the dawn, but he was the spark that made it inevitable.
